Fixing the BMW X5 Problem with the EGR Valve
The problem
This client came in for a check engine light in their BMW X5. Upon diagnostic scan testing, it was revealed there was a problem with the EGR valve. So basically what’s referred to as an EGR insufficient flow. Initial diagnosis in checking, testing of the vehicle in front of us revealed a sticking EGR valve and also the EGR cooler was heavily blocked.
The result
Initial steps were to remove this, replace the EGR and unclog the EGR cooler. The system actually references it off the airflow meter. If the airflow meter doesn’t see its predetermined threshold, it’ll throw up a warning light. Once it’s fitted back up, we’ll reset the adaptations and have the car back on the road.
