The Volvo V40, released originally in 1995, is Volvo’s subcompact executive car. This vehicle offers two generations of automobiles, the first-generation from 1995-2004 (known as the X40) and the second-generati9n from 2004-2012 (known as the P1). The first-generation of the Volvo V40 was a 5-door estate car that had front-engine, front-wheel-drive capabilities. The second-generation was much the same for the Volvo S40; however, the 5-door estate car was then known as the Volvo V50.
