The Volkswagen Passat is a large family car that has been in production since 1972 and originally paralleled the designs of the Audi 80 and A4. This is no longer the case, as the Passat has evolved into its own over its eight generations of changes. In 2008, the Passat CC was released as the four-door coupe version of the Passat.
