BMW Oil Leaks

BMW 3 Series Oil Leak

One of the most common issues we see the most here when we are working on a BMW car service is oil leaks.

Models typically affected include the BMW 3 Series E90 version (2005 to 2011) including 318i, 320i, 330i.

Second to this would be the BMW 1 Series E87 version (2005 to 2011) including 118i, 120i, 125i and 130i.

Other common models include the X5, 545i, 550i and X3.

Typically the cause of the oil leak is the hardening or deterioration of seals in places such as:

  • Rocker cover gaskets
  • Oil filter housing gaskets
  • Varnos seals
  • Vacuum pump & lines
  • PCV hoses

Signs you have an oil leak in your BMW would include:

  • Drops of oil on your garage floor or car park
  • Smoke coming from beneath the bonnet
  • Burning smell while you are running the car

If you are experiencing any of the above issues, feel free to bring your BMW in for a free health check.

We can quickly diagnose the issue and then book you in for a service to resolve the issue.
